Linda and I attended the first “Meet the Authors” event in Salida, Colorado on March 29, 2014. It was Linda’s first book signing for her Rocky Mountain Wildflowers Field Guide. Fourteen local authors including us met at the Salida Community Center and we spoke about our latest books in front of a supportive audience. Linda and I were pleased with our book signings and sales afterwards. Authors attending were from Salida, Cotopaxi, Fairplay, Westcliffe and Como, Colorado.
The range of genre represented by the authors was from history, historical fact and fiction, fantasy, nature, young adult, Native American, self-help and even murder mystery.

At our table representing our company, High Country Artworks, we displayed all of our books---including award-winning books Colorado’s South Park: High Country Paradise and South Park Colorado: Nature’s Paradise; and Park County Colorado: A Photographic History, and the newly released Rocky Mountain Wildflowers Field Guide.
The event was arranged and hosted by Dana Chwan of Sante Fe, New Mexico (formerly of Salida) and Arlene Shovald of Salida, Colorado. Dana’s book, The Reluctant Sorority is a faction (a genre blending fact and fiction) about the life, loves and loss of three Vietnam War widows. Dr. Arlene Shovald is the author of the self-help book, Let Your Dreams be Your Doctor, and her cook book, The Best of Arlene’s Cuisine.
The “Meet the Authors” event included refreshments and concluded with a drawing for books signed and donated by the authors. Since the event was so well-received, it will more than likely become an annual event in Salida.
